Contemporary quarter calf over marbled boards rubbed, sometime expertly rebacked preserving the greater part of the original spine, all edges sprinkled blue; [4], ii, xiv, 71, [1], blank, 23 etched and aquatint plates (numbered thus 1-4, V, VI, 7-9, X, 11, XII, XIII,14, XV, 16, XVII, 18, XIX, XX, 21, XXII, 23), plate X folding, plates VI and 14 with printed over-slips; two old ink shelf marks to the front pastedown, one scored through, presumably when the book was re-shelved at a different location; light age-toning to the margins, a very light waterstain to the upper outer corner of the plates, only just impinging on the platemark in a few cases, most noticeably in plate 21, which is also spotted, the text block and the majority of the plates bright.
