Folio (529 x 369 mm). Two works in one vol. Handsomely bound in contemporary full speckled calf, the spine divided into nine compartments, morocco and gilt lettering piece to the second, the remaining compartments decorated with chain-link gilt tools, all edges gilt; [2]ff., 8pp., 43 engraved plates (of which 3 are double-page); [10], 19, [1]pp., 21 engraved plates (numbered I-XXI); light toning to some leaves in the first work, particularly those of the text, light offsetting in the second work, otherwise bright, clean copies of both works.

Provenance: 1. Colonel Vesey, with his engraved armorial bookplate to the front pastedown. 2. Donald and Mary Hyde, with their wood-engraved book label to the front pastedown. Mary Morley Crapo Hyde Eccles, Viscountess Eccles (1912-2003) was a book collector and author who with her first husband, the New York lawyer, Donald Hyde (1909-1966) established one of the largest private collections of eighteenth-century literature, including an enviable collection of Johnsoniana. She was married in 1984 to her second husband, David, 1st Viscount Eccles.
