Bound in contemporary blind-stamped and gilt-lettered cloth by Remnant & Edmonds of London, with their ticket to the foot of the rear pastedown; viii, 232, [2 (adverts)] pp., retaining the half-title; inserted loose, two nineteenth-century photographs, one showing Scoresby’s Sr.’s grave and the other a water pump erected by him in 1819; light scuffing to small areas of the boards, otherwise a bright, clean copy.

Provenance: William Frankland of Whitby (1817-1858), with his engraved book label to the front pastedown; early pencil ownership inscription to the head of the title-page.
